Do I need a visa to come to Taiwan?

Taiwan has a visa exemption for visitors from 65 countries for visits of 14-90 days depending on the country. Please check that you have a passport with remaining validity of at least six months at the date of entry and see the Bureau of Consular Affairs website for updated visa exemption details.

I am a citizen of P.R. China, Can I still visit?

Chinese citizens with mainland residency (hukou) are currently unable to visit Taiwan for tourism. However, overseas Chinese citizens who fulfill one of the following criteria can apply for an entry permit to Taiwan from the official website:

  • Students studying abroad or in Hong Kong and Macau

  • Living abroad or obtaining local permanent residence in Hong Kong or Macau

  • Living abroad or in Hong Kong or Macau for more than 1 year and have a work certificate

  • Living abroad or in Hong Kong or Macau, obtaining local dependent residence rights and having proof of financial resources
